If you have a window in your kitchen, wonderful! You’re in good shape. Pay attention to the times of the day when you have the most light and make a note of them. I don’t consider my kitchen to be that bright, but
I discovered that between 9:30 and 12:00, I have great light in the kitchen and this is when I’ve been recording my videos lately.
You actually don’t need direct sunlight to get good light for recording. I’ve noticed that when the sun is shining directly in front of my windows, the light is better than when it is positioned to the left. When it’s shining directly in the windows, I start getting shadows around my dishes and on my countertop.
But what if you don’t have any windows in your kitchen? Don’t worry. Turn on your overhead light and buy 2 of these cheap $10 lamps.
Even if you have great natural light, you may not be able to record videos during the times when it’s most ideal. Having a back up lighting solution will give you some flexibility.
